Here’s a quick reminder on tonight’s events (aka: where you can show off that costume you’ve labored over.)
Two Blocks of Spooktacular Fun - Oak & Brook Streets Trick-or-Treat Fest
Tonight, 4:30 - 9:30 pm
You’ll want G-rated costumes for this event because it’s the longest-running Trick-or Treat Fest primarily for kids in Laguna Beach. This is a big deal for double the reasons:
This is ultimately a GIANT competition between the two neighboring streets. In 2008, the City Council voted to close Oak street to only pedestrian traffic . . . and then their competing street, Brooks, got the same allowance in 2011.
The costumes you see – especially the family-themed ones – are an absolute hoot.
The residential streets of Oaks, Brooks, Catalina AND Temple close right at 4:30 p.m., so car travelers beware of detours and scads of kids and parents making their way to our famed show-and-tell for trick-or-treaters.
Live Music & Costume Parties
Later tonight, adults can wander over to Mozambique’s giant Halloween party and costume contest at Ivan’z House on the second floor. REMIX is the awesome band playing, and there are gift card prizes for the costume contest. (Trust me, some really great costumes tend to show up here.) Show up in costume and your cover charge is free.
Mozambique is at 1740 S. Coast Highway, just south of the Surf and Sand Resort.
Of course, Mozambique’s little sister restaurant, Skyloft, is also having a party and costume contest of HER own with a popular jam band called Members. Gift cards are also given for the costume contest and if you’re wearing a costume, your cover charge is evaporated.
Skyloft is in the downtown corridor above Bodega and directly across from Hotel Laguna.
The Cliff always has a fun, more laid-back Halloween party with this year’s live music presented by one of my favorites, The Salty Suites. The music is outside, of course, so the live event runs 6 p.m. - 9 p.m. tonight.
The Cliff sits on the south crest hill of downtown at Legion and Coast Highway. Just head toward the ocean, nosing your way past the little shops there
My Funniest Halloween Disaster Shared Over Here …
I just sent out my “funniest Halloween disaster” blog to my other reading audience at my “Golden Ticket” blog. I didn’t post the story here because I know many of you are already double-dipping in both of my blogs (and, in this case, this Virgo loves your double-dippin’).
If, however, you’re interested in this rather hysterical story and haven’t gotten to know my world over there, grab that broomstick … whoosh up that cloak of yours … and fly on over for a look:
great info for local fun thanks
